Finished in the Fall???

I spoke to the builder's wife today, also  business manager, and it's possible that my house could be finished by the end of September!  This is much sooner than I thought it could be so I am thrilled!

I learned that the "rough in" is underway which means wiring, HVAC, plumbing and shingles.  The windows should arrive soon and will be installed as soon as possible.  Some doors have arrived and the others are expected soon.

After the rough in inspection is completed, the insulation, drywall and siding will commence.

Here are a few pictures a friend sent today:

Foyer area with front doors to the right...

Master closet framed in.
Silver box in picture is back side of  HVAC return vent.

There has been much more progress, but it's hard to see in some of the pictures so you will just need to trust me on that.
In short, I am very pleased with the progress!

I am so grateful to Paula (friend and neighbor in SC) for supplying these pictures now that  I am back in Florida.  I hate to miss all this progress, but the daily updates have made it bearable.  Thank you, Paula!

Better Every Day! 7/21/16

Things are still happening quickly.

The crew was working inside and out today.

The plumber is scheduled to start on Saturday.

Once the porches are finished the roof should go on as well.

This is a view of the back porch - floor and screen to come later.

Apparently, a one piece shower goes in before the drywall...

I've spent most of the day working on info that will show where to place light fixtures, outlets and switches.  Just when I think I have covered it all I realize that I left out something and have to go back and review.
One thought triggers another and I keep thinking about it even when I step away from it.

Tuesday - July 19th

A day can make a big difference.

Sometime yesterday more lumber was delivered to the construction site so I had a feeling some big changes were coming and I was right.  There is now a front porch and a utility room - in progress.  Plus the weak floor joists have been replaced and new sub floor is going down on top.

Monday:

Tuesday:

I won't be back on site for a few weeks so I hope
there will be big changes while I am away.
Stay tuned!

More Progress...

July 15th

Some workers came by late Thursday afternoon and started removing the old windows.  They were back early on Friday and started some roof work and removing the rest of the windows.

They have also started to rebuild the front porch.

Also spending some time going to various thrift stores
looking for a few things to upcycle.

July 13th

It's HOT and DRY in the upstate!

Mornings are pleasant, but it heats up soon enough.  No rain predicted.

I've been here since Sunday evening and this time I brought a load of furniture for the house.  It seemed like a good idea to start bringing things each time I make the trip so Doug and Katie graciously came over to help load up miscellaneous pieces of furniture.  We were concerned that I might run into some rain, but the trip up was a breeze and now everything is safely stowed in a friend's garage.

The framers were supposed to start this week, but I have not seen them. When they do get started, they will be rebuilding the front porch and adding the back porch.  Of course, I want to see the new porches before I have to leave so I hope they start soon.

I've been keeping busy picking out "stuff" for the house.  Yesterday I met with the flooring folks, plumbing supply folks, spent hours at Lowe's and finally came back to the lake when I started worrying about the differences between "polished nickel" and "satin finish nickel".  (Is there a difference?) I knew it was time to quit for the day!

I was back at it today and am working on a list of various fixtures for the contractor.

Tomorrow a friend and I are going "thrifting" to look for some treasures to upcycle.  I'll be sure to post if we find anything!
